OPENING OF THE SOLAR IMPULSE EXHIBITION AT COP 21

Solvay has chosen the Climate Week (COP 21) to present to French and European CEOs the world’s first ever solar-powered airplane. Mr. Jean-Pierre Clamadieu (Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO of Solvay), Bertrand Piccard (Creator, founder and pilot of Solar Impulse), Mr. Damien Cazé (CEO Delegate of Universcience) and Guillaume Leforestier (Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy) opened the evening by sharing their mobilization around the themes of energy transition and clean energy.

The evening took place under the wings of the Solar Impulse n°1 which has been installed at the Cité des Sciences de l’Industrie for several years, hanging more than 80m above the ground. A Solvay Innovation Desk also presented more than 50 research projects on themes such as: Reconciling transport & environment, combining industrial performance, energy efficiency and carbon footprint,…

The evening welcomed more than 400 guests from the political, institutional, ecological and scientific world.
